Requirement 1 : Application

Requirement 2:

WH-1 Form

Complete this WH-1 form (print both pages) with an original signature.

Only one form is required for all events and applications.

Requirement 3:

Upload WH-1

Upload your signed WH-1 Form to our an encrypted and secure folder, we cannot accept DocuScan and the like.


 

Requirement 4:

Upload Evidence of Cost

Upload proper documentation (receipts) to this secure folder. Make sure that your documentation has the following:

  1. The cost that add up to the awarded amount.

  2. Your name, proving that it was you who accrued the cost.

  3. The date the cost was accrued.

Requirement 5:

Set Up Fellowship Meeting with Aupuni Palapala

Use the form below to set up a meeting with Aupuni Palapalaʻs faculty to discuss your experience. This is a casual non-video/audio recorded session. This meeting is meant to be a 30 - 45 min chat about how you have applied or will apply lessons learned from your experience to the classroom as well as your own personal and professional growth. Here are a few guiding questions asked in these sessions.

  • Can you describe your experience in a few sentences or less?

  • How has your experience supported you in your classroom?

  • What do you envision when it comes to grounding education in Hawaiian wisdom?

  • What do you believe others should know about as

About this Fellowship

  • Allows kumu access to professional conferences that increase your ability to include:

    • Hawaiian language, culture and history competencies

    • Allow you to present your own classroom practice relative to Hawaiian education

    • maximum award annually $500

  • Support in taking credit courses related to Hawaiian education

    • not already covered by other funding sources

    • maximum award $1000

Application Timeline

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed on the following dates:

Fall 2020 - November 23, 2020

Spring 2021 - January 4, 2021, February 8, 2021, and March 15, 2021

Summer 2021 - April 12, 2021, and June 7, 2021.

Application Requirements

  • Attend two, two-hour online (Zoom) sessions in the semester of the award. Award Time Frame with Meeting Times:

    • September - December 2020

      • Thursdays, December 3 & 10, 2020 Time: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    • January - May 2021

      • Thursdays, May 6 & 13, 2021 Time: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    • June - August 2021

      • Thursdays, August 5 & 12, 2021 Time: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Fill out a post-conference survey, detailing the benefit of the conference attended

  • A strong connection to Hawaiian language, culture and history competencies and/or allow you to present your own classroom practice relative to Hawaiian education.
